Circulation Services

Check in and check out services, new and edited library cards (patrons must have official proof of current Archer County address), pick up items on hold, renew items, interlibrary loan pick-ups and requests, lost items, copies, faxing, and print jobs. TexShare cards are available to library patrons who have had six or more successful transactions within a year.

Youth and Teen Services

The Archer Public Library provides story times for groups who schedule in advance such as classes, scout groups, church groups, etc.

We also have a robust summer reading program every years. Programs for the summer are available starting in May each year.

In addition, we have a preschool program open to all preschoolers the week before every major holiday. Like us on Facebook for more information.

Reference Assistance

The Archer Public Library subscribes to the TexShare databases which provides library users access to sources such as: EBSCO databases, Hobbies and Crafts Center, Home Improvement Center, Small Engine Repair, Vocational and Career Collection, Learning Express Library, Job and Career Excelerator, homework, health and medical, business, history and genealogy, and books and literature databases.

We also offer interlibrary loan services to all patrons.

Outreach Activities

The Archer Book Club has been meeting since 1998. It meets the last Tuesday of each month. Members take turns supplying dessert while each individual is responsible for their lunch and drink.

The Library's Collection

The library's collection consists of almost thirty thousand items which include: fiction, non-fiction and biography books for adults and children, picture books, books on CD, DVDs, Spanish books for adults and children, reference materials and genealogy materials.

The library also carries The Archer County News, The Cat's Claw, The New York Times, and The Wall Street Journal along with dozens of magazine titles.

Community Spaces in the Library

The meeting room at The Archer Public Library is available to non-profit organizations during regular hours at no cost. It will comfortably seat twelve people. Call (940)574-4954 to book the room.

Technology in the Library

The library has six computers for public use and has WiFi access. Patrons may print in black and white or color if requested.
